Hmmmm。 I have this problem where I just can’t connect to audiobooks， especially fantasy unless I’ve previously read the physical copy。 So I’m kind of disappointed that this didn’t live up to the hype for me。 I can’t say if it was the audio or just the story for me， but I did not connect to these characters。 I see that the FMC’s sister is getting a book so I don’t know if I should try and read that next year， but I’m somewhat intrigued。

If I had more time to read this would have been a quick read。 Levenseller's writing really pulled me in and I had a hard time putting it down。 The plot is not overly complex but if you've ever read and liked a Manhwa or other fantasy romance， you'll probably enjoy this too。 There were a few things that felt out of place （the electric lights and the semi-automatic guns） but that's only because I went in not realizing that this world was more steampunk than high fantasy。 Keep that in mind so that If I had more time to read this would have been a quick read。 Levenseller's writing really pulled me in and I had a hard time putting it down。 The plot is not overly complex but if you've ever read and liked a Manhwa or other fantasy romance， you'll probably enjoy this too。 There were a few things that felt out of place （the electric lights and the semi-automatic guns） but that's only because I went in not realizing that this world was more steampunk than high fantasy。 Keep that in mind so that it's not as jarring for you。 。。。more
